CVD Diamond Tools - Turning Tools

The CVD-Diamond is a polycrystalline diamond grown by plasma-assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technology. It is able to machine and cut hard non-ferrous materials like tungsten carbide with a cobalt percentage of 6% and more. With a CVD-Diamond tool of radius 0.8mm on Tungsten Carbide with 10% Cobalt and Hardness 1680HV, a surface finish of Ra : 0.11 µm and Rt : 0.85 µm is achieved. Production time is reduced as the high edge sharpness meant less or no grinding or polishing. Using a CVD diamond, Contour can manufacture similar tools and geometries as with natural and synthetic diamonds.
