Scientists Charting Exciting Future in Research with Laser-21 Solutions

The researchers at NTU Ultrafast Spectroscopy Lab, led by Dr Sum Tze Chien, have been the beneficiaries of excellent capabilities of Laser-21 provided solutions.

Dr Sum, together with his project officer Mr Edbert Sie are working on experiments related to ultrafast spectroscopy of semiconductors and spintronic materials. As these delicate experiments require good laser stability and lowest possible vibration, Dr Sum has settled on Coherent ultrafast systems and TMC tables for good, quality laser pulses and vibration isolation. Currently, Dr Sum has in lab a Mira Oscillator, a Libra Amplifier, a Legend Amplifier and a TOPAS just to name a few. “We have a very positive experience with the Coherent Femtosecond Laser System in our laboratory”, says Dr Sum. “The system is robust and reliable. After about 3.5 years of operation, the laser specifications are still being met. We can certainly vouch for their system reliability. The reliability of the system and the competency of the local agent in service and support are very important factors to consider when acquiring new equipment.”

“In addition, the TMC tables provide us with a sturdy and vibration-free platform for our ultrafast experiments. Currently, we have 4 such tables coupled together in an F-configuration. Despite that the coupling was retrofitted onsite, we have no vibration issues with our experiments.

Dr Sum has this to add about the services provided by Laser-21.” Laser 21 provides both quality and timely service support for the maintenance of our Coherent Femtosecond Laser system. Their service manager, Mr Larry Low, is very experienced with such systems. He has always provided us with valuable and reliable support over all these years”.
