| Coherent RegA & Micra Laser Project |
|
These two lasers were installed in August 2008 at the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences’ (SPMS) in Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The RegA™ is a CW-pumped, cavity-dumped, TI:sapphire regenerative amplifier capable of pumping multiple optical parametric amplifier (OPAs) at repetition rates beyond 250 kHz. This repetition rate results in superior signal-to-noise ratio and faster data acquisition for scientific experiments or faster throughput in processing applications.
The Coherent ultrafast laser system will be used in Dr. Chia’s research work on Ultrafast Quasi-particle Dynamics of Strongly Correlated Electronic Systems. Assistant Professor Elbert Chia is currently at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Division of Physics and Applied Physics, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr. Chia's areas of expertise are in low-temperature condensed matter physics, specifically penetration depth studies of unconventional superconductors and ultrafast dynamics of strongly correlated electron systems. His current research works focus on ultrafast quasi-particle dynamics of high-temperature superconductors, heavy fermions, multi-ferroics, and nano-composites.
